01 Dunhuang Manuscripts
The Dunhuang Manuscripts refer to the ancient manuscripts and prints from the 4th to the 11th centuries discovered in the Mogao Grottoes' Library Cave in 1900. As part of China's cultural treasure trove, these manuscripts are not only carriers of historical records but also treasures of calligraphic art. With diverse styles and unique brushwork, they encompass various scripts such as regular, running, and cursive, each character and stroke embodying the wisdom and emotions of the ancients.
The Dunhuang Manuscripts are housed in various locations, including China, the UK, France, Russia, and Japan. Institutions such as the National Library of China, the British Library, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Dunhuang Academy, the Chinese Historical Museum, and the Palace Museum hold collections, with a total number exceeding 50,000 items.

02 Refined Gathering of Calligraphy and Painting
After appreciating the calligraphic art and cultural essence of the Dunhuang Manuscripts, we have specially organized the "Ink and Color Dunhuang - Refined Gathering of Calligraphy and Painting," where you can not only admire and learn but also experience the unique charm of calligraphy firsthand!
Calligraphy and Painting Gathering
The Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum, in collaboration with the Institute of Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Carving Art at Fudan University, the Center for Excavated Documents and Ancient Paleography at Fudan University, and the Institute for the Protection of Chinese Ancient Books at Fudan University, invites renowned artists to demonstrate their calligraphy and painting skills on-site, allowing you to witness their artistic flair and creative passion.
Creative Calligraphy and Painting
Inspired by Dunhuang murals or the Year of the Snake, the artists will create exquisite small paintings. Each piece is imbued with cultural significance and artistic creativity, blending tradition with modernity and exuding a festive atmosphere.
Spring Festival Couplet Writing
The Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum has specially designed Spring Festival couplets inspired by the Zaojing pattern, integrating traditional Dunhuang artistic elements with modern design. Visitors can personally write their own couplets, experiencing the joy of calligraphy and adding a touch of art and good fortune to their homes.
