DCAM Exhibition | Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum Collaborates with Yangpu District Library on "Fun in YOUNG Pu·Sharing Cultural Heritage" Micro-Exhibition Series—A Journey into the Heritage of Mogao Spirit

Under the "Great Social Aesthetics" initiative by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum actively responds by partnering with the Yangpu District Library to launch the "Fun in YOUNG Pu·Sharing Cultural Heritage" micro-exhibition series. The exhibition, which opened on March 14th and will run until May 8th, is located on the second floor interactive area of the Yangpu District Central Library (No. 366 Changhai Road).

As the organizer of this exhibition, the Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum is dedicated to combining the spiritual essence of Dunhuang culture with contemporary art, offering citizens a cultural feast. The exhibition is presented through five thoughtfully designed sections: panel introductions, showcase displays, interactive tables, TV video exhibitions, and a book lending showcase.

This exhibition primarily showcases the profound integration of the Mogao Spirit with contemporary Dunhuang art. The Mogao Spirit, a precious cultural treasure, embodies the dedication of countless guardians of the Mogao Caves.

Teacher Shi Dunyu, a key figure in the heritage of the Mogao Spirit, comes from a family deeply connected to the Mogao Caves. Her parents, Shi Weixiang and Ouyang Lin, devoted their lives to the preservation and study of the Mogao Caves.

Undeterred by hardships, they took root in the desert, using their professional knowledge and firm beliefs to make outstanding contributions to the protection and inheritance of the Mogao Caves. Growing up in such a family environment, Teacher Shi Dunyu was deeply influenced by the Mogao Spirit and has taken on the responsibility of carrying it forward. Today, she is dedicated to showcasing the art and culture of the Mogao Caves to the public in more diverse forms, revitalizing the Mogao Spirit in the new era through her efforts.

The exhibition also features high-quality collections and exquisite cultural and creative products from the Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum. Through diverse exhibits and projects, it provides audiences with profound cultural experiences, promoting the continuous innovation and heritage of Dunhuang culture in contemporary contexts.

If you are curious about the culture of the Mogao Caves and wish to delve deeper into the Mogao Spirit and the essence of Dunhuang culture and contemporary art, visit the Yangpu District Central Library during the exhibition period to immerse yourself in this cultural feast.

The public is also invited to explore the Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum to admire two original restored murals by Teacher Shi Dunyu.
