DCAM Public Education|Blooming Dunhuang: A Tribute to Mothers—Parent-Child Art Workshop Invites You to Co-Create Heartfelt Art

Deep within the murals of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang lie countless flowers that have bloomed for millennia. Though less ethereal than the Feitian (celestial beings) or as solemn as the Buddha, these delicate blossoms bear witness to the splendor of the Silk Road, the serenity of Buddhist realms, and the warmth of human affection. This Mother’s Day, the Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum (DCAM) presents the “Blooming Dunhuang: A Tribute to Mothers” public education event, inviting you and your child to step into the floral world of the murals and craft a unique gift for Mom through art and love.

Flowers in Dunhuang murals are not mere decorations—they embody ancient beliefs and emotions:Lotus symbolizes purity,Peony signifies prosperity,Honeysuckle vines intertwine to represent resilience...Each bloom whispers tales from a thousand years ago. In this event, we will guide you to decode the “floral language” hidden in the murals through interactive activities, enabling you and your child to explore the cultural significance of Dunhuang’s flora and create a heartfelt Mother’s Day gift.
